Recycling in action in BSS

What does it all mean? Why should we bother? What's with all the Rs?
A GatoRRRRR is a person participating in the SF State environment to Reduce, Re-use, Recycle, Rot, and Re-think.

Recycling at SFSU

  • 76% of our overall waste was diverted from the landfill in 2007, surpassing the City of San Francisco’s goals of 75% by 2010.
  • This is accomplished through diverting recyclable and compostable materials from our waste streams, including: food waste, green waste, paper, glass, bottles, and our construction and demolition waste.

Goals

  • Attaining Zero Waste by 2020, the first step is to reduce waste, then reuse, and then recycle.
  • Diverting waste into three streams (trash, recyclables & compost), placing three disposal containers around our campus, including classrooms, offices, lobbies, and plazas.
